The Invernizzi Foundation and Bocconi University’s relationship has deep and solid roots. Established thirty years ago and based on common values and objectives, this connection has grown and strengthened over time, becoming a real Partnership in support of scientific research, knowledge and progress. The Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi Foundation is Bocconi University’s most significant donor, a partner who has trained many researchers in the field of social sciences through important philanthropic donations, supporting Bocconi research and inspiring the growth of the University’s PhD School. Each initiative supported and each investment made by the Invernizzi Foundation has contributed to the progress and dissemination of knowledge and has generated an immense impact on the world in which we live. After supporting Basic Research at Bocconi and the PhD School, in 2011 the Foundation chose to establish the Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi Foundation Chair in Development Economics, assigned to Prof. Eliana La Ferrara. 

During 2016-2020, they also named the Research Center ICRIOS - The Invernizzi Center for Research on Innovation, Organization, Strategy and Entrepreneurship and created LEAP - Laboratory for Effective Anti-Poverty Policies, in addition to confirming their significant annual support of research activities and the University’s PhD School. 

In 2018, the Foundation further confirmed their commitment by contributing to the establishment of SDA Bocconi School of Management’s AGRI Lab and supported an innovative project at the Research Center GREEN - Geography, Resources, Environment, Energy and Networks. 

Starting in 2021, the Invernizzi Foundation chose to support the Covid Crisis Lab and BLEST, the Bocconi Lab on European Studies, as well as the “Una Scelta Possibile” scholarship program. Through a large donation, the Foundation has decided to support merit and social mobility, with a program aimed at removing socio-economic barriers, opening the doors of the University to those talented students who, without financial support, would not be able to continue their studies.

Furthermore, as a Strategic Partner, the Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi Foundation is a member of the Partners for Development Program and is actively involved in life at Bocconi through the Development Committee and the Coordination Committee.

Through the creation of a permanent Chair and a dedicated Center (ICRIOS), the Foundation has chosen to donate to the endowment, demonstrating that it places great trust in the University, its mission and its management of resources. The University’s endowment fund is capital that the University invests in the long term, generating an annual return, which guarantees the independence and sustainability of Bocconi activities over time.
