SUR Lab: new cycle of 5 masterclasses kicks off

The Sustainable Urban Regeneration Lab (Sur Lab) at Bocconi University, led by Professor Edoardo Croci, is launching a new series of five masterclasses dedicated to sustainable urban regeneration. Supported by Hines, Intesa Sanpaolo, and Prelios, Sur Lab continues to promote high-value educational and innovative initiatives.

Each masterclass will last six hours and be held every Monday starting from May 27, culminating in a final workshop. The main objective is to provide participants with the necessary tools to understand and manage the complex processes of urban regeneration, exploring innovative development models, value generation mechanisms, and the crucial role of various stakeholders, both public and private.

This initiative is part of the MUSA (Multilayered Urban Sustainability Action) project, a collaboration between the University of Milan-Bicocca (the proposing institution), the Polytechnic University of Milan, Bocconi University, and the University of Milan. The project is funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr) and aims to transform the metropolitan area of Milan into an innovation ecosystem for urban regeneration, proposing itself as a replicable model at the national and European level.

"Increasingly, the consideration of the social value generated by urban regeneration interventions is becoming significant in the decisions of private operators and public administrations," says Edoardo Croci, project coordinator along with Benedetta Lucchitta. "This is one of the innovative aspects addressed in the MUSA project - Spoke 1 (Urban Regeneration), which sees our university as a key player along with other Milanese universities. In this context, through the expertise developed with the Sustainable Urban Regeneration Lab, Bocconi University is promoting a series of masterclasses, free and with limited access, aimed at sector operators to integrate their skills with economic-social competencies."

This series of masterclasses represents a unique opportunity for professionals and sector operators to enrich their skills and actively contribute to sustainable urban transformation, following an approach that integrates economic and social considerations.
