Core Activities

Research

Over the years, Professor Tabellini has explored various lines of research. He has focused on different aspects relating to the functioning of institutions that influence growth, as well as the role of culture (i.e. informal institutions) in favoring the proper functioning of institutions and therefore also economic development, focusing on the aspects of national and European institutions that can foster the reforms necessary for growth. Recently, the research areas studied as part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Chair in Political Economics have also touched on issues related to identity politics, electorate polarization, populism and social norms. Funding has been received for a "Partial Norms” Research Project of National Interest (PRIN) from the European Research Council Advanced Grant for the “European Integration, Populism and European Cities” project and from CIFAR Catalyst funds.
