Generali has been a longtime supporter of Bocconi University. A member of the Partners for Development Program for more than 20 years, this large insurance group believes in the University’s development projects, having invested in them since 1996. The product of a shared set of values and goals, the relationship between the two organizations has evolved over the years, growing steadily richer in content and new opportunities for cooperation. In 2017, a named, fixed-term academic post was established, the Generali Group Chair in Insurance and Risk Management, assigned to Professor Stefano Rossi in the Department of Finance. This academic position provided a significant boost to the University's research in the fields of both insurance and risk management, contributing decisively to the development of teaching and related institutional work. It has consolidated the relationship of mutual trust that for many years has connected the University and the Generali Group, which led to it becoming a Strategic Partner of the University. From Generali Italia and Bocconi’s common purpose to encourage and support an increasing number of talented women in degree programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the Generali 4 Girls in STEM partial scholarship was established in 2018. Investing in the education of the new generations means guaranteeing added value for the future, both for the benefit of civil society and the world of work, and, of course, for the professional growth of those who can take advantage of this investment. This commitment, was further strengthened in 2021, with the creation of a named fund to support female master's degree students enrolled in quantitative courses and from disadvantaged economic backgrounds, the "Generali Bocconi Women in Stem Awards". In 2023, Generali chose to further strengthen this partnership by establishing a new academic position, the Generali Endowed Chair in European Policies – Shaping Leadership in Europe, assigned to Professor Catherine De Vries. This position will have a focus on scientific research in European Policies, an area of great relevance for both Italy and Europe and of common interest for Bocconi and Generali.
