Francesco Billari is Professor of Demography and Dean of the Faculty at Bocconi University in Milan. He has been a lecturer at the University of Oxford (Department of Sociology, where he was also Director) and Nuffield College (where he was a Professorial Fellow), and at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Director of Independent Research on Early Adulthood Demography). 

From 2006 to date, Francesco Billari coordinates the activities and initiatives of the Carlo F. Dondena for Research on Social Dynamics and Public Policy. Francesco Billari was also the first director of the Research Center, while today he makes his contribution by serving as its president.

Marco Bonetti received a Master of Science and PhD in Statistics from the University of Connecticut after completing his undergraduate studies in Statistics and Economics at the University of Rome. He spent 8 years as a Postdoctoral fellow and Research Fellow in Biostatistics at Harvard, with a joint position at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

A Professor of Statistics since 2012, Marco Bonetti has a multifaceted commitment to the study and in-depth investigation of diverse research areas including: statistical methods and applications in medicine, survival analysis problems, clinical trials, screening, and more.

Since 2014, Marco Bonetti has been director of the Research Center "Carlo F. Dondena for Research on Social Dynamics and Public Policy."

A Management Board, consisting of a team of experts in various disciplines, ensures a multidisciplinary approach to the research carried out by the Centre.

Joint Purpose

Founded in 2006 at Bocconi, the Research Center "Carlo F. Dondena for Research on Social Dynamics and Public Policy" has rightfully established itself as an international center of excellence for social studies of relevant interest to individuals, firms, institutions and economic systems. The Dondena Center, over the years, has included 50 scholars in various disciplines including demography, public economics, epidemiology, political science, sociology, applied statistics and economic and social history. The original grant started and permanently maintained a long series of scholarly activities, from which researchers have applied for and obtained additional external funding, including several prestigious grants from the European Research Council.
