BLEST - Bocconi Lab for European Studies
Eleanor Spaventa is Professor of European Union Law at Bocconi Law School, Milan (Italy). She previously worked at the law schools of Durham, Birmingham and Cambridge Universities (UK); in 2014 she held a Christopherson/Knott fellowship at the Institute for Advance Studies in Durham and a Fernard Braudel Senior Fellowship at the European University Institute. Eleanor has also held various visiting appointments including Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Natolin (2009-2012).
Eleanor’s research focuses on the constitutional aspect of European Union integration and in particular on EU fundamental rights, EU citizenship, the internal market. Her latest research project considers how the Covid-crisis and Brexit are reshaping the governance of the European Union, and in particular the relationship between the main EU Institutions.
Research Team
The Lab involves 31 faculty members and 8 PhD students from all Bocconi departments. The number of people working for the Lab is likely to increase in the following years.
Joint purpose
Bocconi Lab in European Studies seeks to foster cross-disciplinary research and promote informed debate in European Studies so as to reach a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by the European Union in years to come. The Lab is supported by a donation from the Invernizzi Foundation. BLEST works in synergy with the Achille and Giulia Boroli Chair in European Studies.
